Fantasy Football Start ’em Sit ’em Week 16 (Playoffs)

We are at the home stretch of the fantasy journey and if you made it this far your season has been a success already. But as the great Kobe Bryant once said after being up 3 games to 1 against the Magic, “the job isn’t finished.” Full disclosure in case you were wondering, I made the playoffs in 5 out of my 8 leagues and won 4 of my first round matchups. I have 9 fantasy championships in my 10+ year career dating back to college, so one more win would put me in the elite club of double digit titles which I don’t take lightly.

That being said, winning it all is a difficult feat that will take a lot of luck to come out on top. Fantasy is more like poker than chess. Injuries, bad weather and negative game scripts can be the difference between winning it all and an abrupt second round exit. No matter what happens this week, just remember that fantasy is a game that you should enjoy and have fun with your friends. Don’t take yourself too seriously. See you in the championship game!

Week 16 Start ’em

Marquise Goodwin – Seahawks WR

With Tyler Lockett unavailable this week due to a broken finger, Goodwin is poised to take over the Seahawks WR2 role in what should be a shootout with the high-octane Chiefs offense. In the other 3 games this season that Goodwin has played at least 54% of the snaps he has scored 4 TD’s and totaled 200 receiving yards with a 14% target share.

The Chiefs defense has been shaky against the pass this year, allowing over 150 yards per game and the 5th most fantasy points to opposing wideouts. Fire up Goodwin as a poor man’s Lockett in Week 16.

Marquise Goodwin Week 16 Projections: 9 targets, 8 receptions, 109 receiving yards, 2 receiving TD’s

Week 16 Sit ’em

Chris Olave – Saints WR

Olave hasn’t practiced this week and was limited in Week 15 with a strained hamstring. This is concerning for the rookie wideout whose calling card is his breakaway downfield speed. In Week 15 he underperformed in a plus matchup against a shaky Falcons secondary to the tune of 3 receptions and 53 yards on 4 targets.

Olave has finished out of the top 40 wide receivers in the past 3 weeks and has been surpassed as of late by fellow wideout Rashid Shaheed. To make matters worse, the Saints will be traveling to Cleveland with winds up to 25 mph and temperature at 10 degrees. With the windchill it will feel like sub zero-like conditions.

Chris Olave Week 16 Projections: 3 targets, 2 receptions, 39 receiving yards, 0 TD’s
