Fantasy Football Start ’em Sit ’em Week 9

The fantasy football world is constantly in flux. One day you are sitting pretty in the top spot, the next you are on a 5 game losing streak fighting to be in the playoff mix. In the past week alone we have witnessed a potentially season-altering injury with the NFL rushing leader Derrick Henry going down in Week 8.

This morning we all woke up to the tragic news of Henry Ruggs III being involved in a fatal car accident in Las Vegas which could mean the end of a once-promising career. I tell you all this so that you do not get complacent and take your eye off the ball. Now is the time to handcuff your stud running backs and lock down a high quality backup QB for the second half of the season.

Tight ends will become more scarce as the season goes along, so if you can hoard more than one and keep them away from your opponents the better. Finally, don’t take your kicker and defense for granted. Do your homework and make sure that you are putting in the optimal matchups for your special teams to succeed. As a wise proverb one said, “Prepare the umbrella before it rains.”

DeVante Parker – Dolphins WR

Parker returned to action after missing the last 3 games and didn’t miss a beat, garnering a 28.2% target share of Tua’s throws. His targets were second only to rookie Jaylen Waddle’s 12, but Week 8 proved that the two wideouts could both coexist and be productive at the same time.

In Week 9 the Dolphins get a plus matchup against a Texans defense that gave up 115 yards to Cooper Kupp and a TD to Robert Woods only a week ago. I predict that Parker and Waddle will have similar success in the air in what should be a shootout with two terrible defenses sure to give up big fantasy points to the opposing offenses.

Week 9 Sit ’em

Adrian Peterson – Titans RB

With the news of Derrick Henry’s season-ending foot injury in Week 8, the Titans are now forced to call upon the geriatric AP to save what’s left of their offense. Peterson is now 36 years old with lots of miles on the tires.

That isn’t going to stop the Titans from starting him right away against a Rams defense that just added Von Miller to join Aaron Donald and Jalen Ramsey in Hollywood on what is clearly a Super Bowl or bust team looking to destroy any team in its path. Stick to the script and fade AP and the Titans’ run game until further notice.

Adrian Peterson Week 9 Projections: 15 rushing attempts, 47 rushing yards, 3 targets, 2 receptions, 9 receiving yards, 0 TD’s
