Waiver Wire Pickups for Fantasy Basketball

Even though the moves made by teams just before this recent NBA trade deadline didn’t seem profound, they had a real effect in terms of fantasy basketball. Sometimes a small trade can have a big impact on a player’s production. Here are some great adds for your squad for the respective positions: point guard (PG), shooting guard (SG), small forward (SF), power forward (PF), and center (C).

Tony Wroten, Phi PG (14% owned in Yahoo, 1% in ESPN)

With the departure of Evan Turner to the Pacers, Wroten will finally get his chance to shine. Since Turner’s departure, Wroten has averaged 18.3 points, 2.3 assist, and 3.7 rebounds, on 50% field goal percentage. His minutes, 27.8 per game, and production will continue to rise; so like a quarter lying in the sun, I suggest you go ahead and pick him up.

Kent Bazemore, LAL SG/SF (26% owned in Yahoo, 3% in ESPN)

Bazemore, A.K.A. Blaze-more, has been lighting it up since leaving the Warriors to join the Lakers before the deadline. The fiery guard has averaged 1.5 threes, 17.3 points, 3.0 assist and 2.0 steals in 35 min. per game since dawning the purple and gold. Blaze-more will have no problem staying smoking-hot in D’Antoni’s up tempo system, so put on your oven mitts and press add if you need a combo guard.

Kent Bazemore and Matt Bohannan

Mike Dunleavy, Chi SG/SF (18% owned in Yahoo, 1% in ESPN)

It’s hard to teach old dogs new tricks, but sometimes, sit and stay work just fine. Luol Deng gets shipped to Cleveland–bad for the Bulls–good for Dunleavy. Since the All-Star break, Dunleavy has averaged 15.0 points, 5.3 rebounds, 3.3 assist, and 2.5 threes in a whopping 38 min. per game. Look for this old dog to continue with the same old tricks, because they seem to be working just fine.

Khris Middleton, Mil SF/PF (28% owned in Yahoo, 1% in ESPN)

The departure of Caron Butler will open up minutes for Middleton in Milwaukee. In his last game verses a tough Indiana defense Middleton put up 3 threes, 22 points, and 3 steals, in 26 minutes. The sharp shooting Middleton won’t hurt your percentages, 49% FG and 89% FT, and is worth a long look at the very least.

Byron Mullens, Phi PF/C (6% owned in Yahoo, 1% in ESPN)

Mullens is seeking a fresh start in Philly after being traded from L.A. A high risk, high reward player, Mullens will average around 1.1 threes, 10.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, and a block per game in Philly. Add him if you are in need of a center.
