We had to post this article regarding the hottest fantasy baseball pickups for the month of April right away. Take advantage of the best waiver wire pickups before fellow league owners snag these players.

Fantasy Baseball Pickups - April1. Kyle Drabek, SP, Toronto Blue Jays – The 23-year-old righty just tossed seven innings of one-hit ball in his first start of 2011 and received the win against the Minnesota Twins. Drabek, whose father Doug won the NL Cy Young in 1990, has a huge, long-term upside as the top prospect in the organization and could turn in mid-range fantasy value by season’s end. As is the case with most young hurlers, owners should not expect Drabek to dominate each time out because there will likely be ups-and-downs, but more ups in this case. (Owned in 10 percent in ESPN leagues and 31 percent in Yahoo leagues.)

2. Logan Morrison, OF, Florida Marlins – The former 22nd round draft pick in 2005 has the tools at the plate to be an above-average fantasy producer this year. Morrison, who is already an everyday player, hit a home run on Opening Day against the New York Mets and should continue to develop his power stroke. Consider adding him for depth or as a fill-in as of right now, with plenty of upside. (Owned in 22 percent of ESPN leagues and 32 percent of Yahoo Leagues.)

3. Alex Gordon, 3B/OF, Kansas City Royals – Here’s a player who has battled injuries in his career and was once a highly touted prospect that never materialized to his full potential. Now that Gordon is healthy and batting in the middle of the line-up, owners should keep an eye on him as a potential addition after he had an outstanding Spring Training as well. The 27-year-old doesn’t hit for a high average and strikes out a lot while also supplying power and run production assuming he doesn’t wind up back on the shelf. (Owned in 9 percent of ESPN leagues and 29 percent.)
