Fantasy Football Start ’em Sit ’em Week 1
What’s up guys! My name is Sully and I will be doing my best to help you guys out with your questions on who to start and who to sit each week. I absolutely love football and have been playing fantasy football since 2009 and have been a part of Couch Fam since 2020. Nobody is perfect and I don’t expect to be either but you have my word that I’ll give you my best advice to help you guys each week and ultimately win your leagues!
I will also try to refrain from taking up your time with the super obvious stuff. For example, if you drafted Christian Mcaffrey, you likey used a first round pick on him and don’t need me to tell you to start a player of CMC’s or Patty Mahomes caliber. Now let’s get into it!
Week 1 Start ’em
Jahan Dotson – Commanders WR
Dotson has been one of my favorite WR’s to target this year and has built a strong rapport with Commanders QB Sam Howell so far this preseason. Howell, another breakout candidate this year of mine, immediately looked for Dotson on several consecutive plays when they played Baltimore in their second preseason game after the departure of fellow wideout, Terry McLaurin. Dotson compiled 5 catches on 7 targets and 76 yards in a mere half versus Baltimore.
While it looks like Scary Terry is trending in the right direction, turf toe can be a very nagging injury and I wouldn’t be surprised to see Terry get a limited workload in a game they should easily win on paper versus the Arizona Cardinals. Ah yes the Arizona Cardinals, a wideouts dream, opposing fantasy wideouts scored more against the Cardinals than any other team. Yikes. Not to mention Dotson is able to win at all three levels of the field and was effective against man, press, and zone as a rookie. Dotson scored 7 touchdowns while playing in just 12 games last year and is one of the best contested catch receivers in the game.
Jahan Dotson Week 1 Projections: 10 targets, 7 receptions, 106 yards, 1 receiving TD

Week 1 Sit ’em
Breece Hall – Jets RB
As a NY Jet fan my whole life I am pretty plugged in to all things Jets. It also doesn’t take a Jet fan to see what the Jets are planning to do with Breece Hall to start the year. Hall was having a fantastic start to his rookie campaign before tearing his ACL against the Broncos Week 7 last year. The signing of FA Dalvin Cook, an established and dominant RB in his own right, signaled to most that the Jets were going to play it cautious with Hall to start the season. While Cook is coming off a shoulder injury himself, there is usually a bit more of a concern for a RB’s confidence in his knee coming off an ACL.
I still believe Hall will eventually become the lead back and that he is a great buy-low candidate early on if his touches are limited as I project them to be. We should also see Michael Carter sprinkled in as well against Buffalo on Monday night. The Bills gave up just 105 yards a game on the ground last year, sixth best in the league, and provides yet another reason why we should temper our expectations for Hall this week. If you have a quality RB3 behind Hall I would highly suggest starting them rather than hoping that Hall gets a big workload in his first game back from his ACL injury.
Breece Hall Week 1 Projections: 11 rushing attempts, 39 rushing yards, 3 targets, 2 receptions, 13 receiving yards, 0 TD’s
