Fantasy Football Start ’em Sit ’em Week 8

As we approach the halfway point of the fantasy football season, the best advice I can give to you is to stay balanced. No matter how good or bad your team is doing, try not to allow yourself to get too high or too low.

If you have only two wins on the season, your chances of reaching the playoffs are low but it not impossible. You might just have one of those teams that are unlucky which can happen, or you might just be on the cusp of a 4 game win streak.

If you are one of the top 3 teams in the league there is a good chance that you have benefited from a combination of good luck and the opponents that you have faced have been cupcakes or have dealt with an untimely injury misfortune. Whatever the case may be, just know that there is still a lot of football to be played and you cannot afford to take your eye off the ball.

Khalil Herbert – Bears RB

Herbert is fresh off not one but two electric starts for the Bears in relief of injured workhorse David Montgomery. With Damien Williams fresh off the reserve list, Herbert still received the lion’s share of touches, getting 18 rushing attempts and topping 100 yards while adding 5 receptions for another 33 yards.

The only thing he was missing on the day was a TD, which would have capped an otherwise superb day on the ground. In Week 8 he gets a plus matchup against a 49ers defense that hasn’t lived up to expectations, giving up a 100 yard game to the Colts’ Jonathan Taylor. Start Herbert and squeeze the last bit of fantasy relevance from him before Montgomery likely comes back in Week 9.

Khalil Herbert Week 8 Projections: 21 rushing attempts, 95 rushing yards,2 rushing TDs, 6 targets, 4 receptions, 27 receiving yards

Week 8 Sit ’em

Tyler Lockett – Seahawks WR

As long as Gino Smith is under center for the Seahawks, Lockett’s ceiling is severely limited. In Week 7 Lockett was targeted an abysmal 3 times, turning that into 12 yards on 2 receptions. That is simply not going to get it done if you are starting him as your WR2.

Things do get easier in Week 8 with a soft matchup at home against the Jaguars, but owners should look elsewhere for fantasy production by banishing Lockett to the bench and throwing away the key.

Tyler Lockett Week 8 Projections: 4 targets, 3 receptions, 23 receiving yards, 0 TD’s
