Fantasy Football Start ’em Sit ’em Week 2

The first week of the season is finally in the books! With that being said, if you were one of the unlucky players who are in the hole with a Week 1 loss this is the list for you. The one mistake I see a lot of inexperienced fantasy players make is that they suffer a tough loss and immediately go into panic mode.

They try to sell low on players that they used high draft capital on such as Odell Beckham or want to drop players altogether off of a small sample size. If this sounds like you, STOP what you are doing right now and take a breath. The worst thing you can do is make an erratic decision coming off of one loss. The fantasy season is a marathon not a sprint!

If you insist on shaking things up, look around the league and try to get creative by making a bold trade. In order for trades to be successful this early in the season you must fill a glaring need of another player in your league where it makes sense for both parties. Don’t try and pull a fast one with a trade that the other teams in your league will automatically reject. Remember, your reputation in fantasy must be a positive one to get a trade pushed through in most cases.

Week 2 Start ’em

Aaron Rodgers – Packers QB

Many fantasy players made the decision to write off Rodgers after coming off a disappointing season. Even the Packers organization dissed him by passing on elite wide receivers in the draft, instead deciding to trade up in the first round to select his heir apparent Jordan Love.

By all accounts, Rodgers was livid at the disrespect being put on his name in the off season and decided to take out his frustration on the Vikings in Week 1 by throwing for 4 touchdowns and 364 yards. If there is one guy you can’t count out it is the Packers legend. I expect him to continue his blistering Week 1 performance against a Lions defense that was shredded by Mitch Trubisky. It’s safe to say the Lambeau Leap will be alive and well this Sunday.

Aaron Rodgers Week 1 Projections: 415 passing yards, 4 passing TD’s, 1 INT

Week 2 Sit ’em

Mark Ingram II – Ravens RB

When J.K. Dobbins was drafted in the 2nd round out of Ohio State, many experts predicted that the rookie would cut into veteran Mark Ingram’s workload. Welp, they were right. Ingram, who is notably 30 years of age, is almost certainly going to decline despite rushing for over 1,000 yards in 3 out of the last 4 seasons.

The NFL is a “what have you done for me lately” league and Dobbins was the one who got into the end zone in Week 1, not Ingram. If the precious rookie continues to take scoring opportunities away from the vet, not even a plus matchup against a soft Texans defense will save his fantasy prospects in Week 2.

Mark Ingram II Week 2 Projections: 8 rushing attempts, 56 rushing yards, 2 receptions, 22 receiving yards, 0 TD’s
