Fantasy Football Start ’em Sit ’em Week 9 (2019)

There are only a handful of games left in the fantasy regular season so it is my duty to prepare you adequately for the important stretch of games ahead. That being said, it’s officially ‘Handcuff SZN’ in real life and especially in fantasy. I will keep things short and sweet for you guys. Now is the time to go out and get insurance for your starting running backs who typically get the most volume of touches on your team.

If you are one of the lucky owners who drafted Dalvin Cook, Ezekiel Elliott, or Saquon Barkley, this is the week where you absolutely must try and get Alexander Mattison, Tony Pollard and Wayne Gallman if they are somehow available in your league still. Those handcuffs are the cream of the crop and can potentially be league-winners if the unthinkable happens to your stud RB (knock on wood if you’re with me).

If you are a C-Mac owner, it wouldn’t hurt to grab Reggie Bonnafon who is most likely available. Bonnafon is a versatile threat who could potentially keep you afloat if anything were to happen to the potential fantasy MVP. And lastly, if you have Leonard Fournette, go ahead and grab Ryquell Armstead who is not on anyone’s radar (yet). Whatever you do, don’t be the fool who doesn’t pay for the $5 car rental insurance and then get into much more costly fender bender that could have easily been avoided!

Week 9 Start ’em

Adam Thielen – Vikings WR

Thielen injured his hamstring in Week 7 on a spectacular TD catch in the back of the end zone which snapped his consecutive games played streak at 87. All signs point to Thielen returning this week against the Chiefs who are likely to get Patrick Mahomes back under center after he missed the last game sidelined with an ankle injury.

Assuming Mahomes is back to his normal self, this game has the makings of a high-octane shootout at Arrowhead where Thielen will be called upon as a primary target in the red zone. Despite missing a game, Thielen is tied for 5th in the NFL with 8 end zone targets on the year.

Week 9 Sit ’em

Courtland Sutton – Broncos WR

Sutton has been steady but uninspiring since his two breakout games in Weeks 4 and 5. Things just got a lot more grim for the young and talented wideout in the past week as he lost his starting QB Joe Flacco and fellow wideout Emmanuel Sanders got traded to the 49ers which allows teams to zero in on Sutton. Enter unknown and inexperienced QB Brandon Allen and you have the recipe for another stinker against an underrated Browns defense in Week 9.
