Fantasy Football Start ’em Sit ’em Week 7 (2019)

And just like that we are now halfway through fantasy season and many of you are now at an important crossroads. If you are reading this, you are in need of guidance so I am going to assume that you are not in first place leading the pack.

If you were one of the millions of people who watched the show ‘Game of Thrones’ you remember an important phrase that warned everyone of impending doom…’Winter is coming!’
In the fantasy football world the equivalent of this warning is The BYE weeks are coming! Similar to Westeros, if you do not prepare for this dangerous time you will be left on the outside looking in come playoff time.

Do yourself a favor and check the bye weeks of your key players and make sure that you have enough running backs or wide receivers to start each week. If not, get ahead of it and make a trade to balance out your positional depth.

If you are picking up a quarterback or tight end off free agency, double check and make sure you are not picking up a player with the same bye week as your current starter (it happens more than you think).

Now is the time to handcuff your key players if you haven’t already, because one injury is all it takes to bring down an unprepared fantasy backfield. Look ahead early and often and you will gain a slight edge on your opponents that could be the difference between postseason glory or the consolation bracket.

Week 7 Start ’em

Michael Gallup – Cowboys WR

With star wideout Amari Cooper likely to miss Week 7 with a thigh contusion, Gallup is poised for a breakout performance against at Jerry’s World against an Eagles defense that is allowing the most fantasy points to wide receivers on the year.

The Cowboys offense is coming off a tough loss to Sam Darnold and the Jets, and will look to rebound in a big way. In order to have success through the air, Dak will have to rely on his second year wideout who may be the only viable option in the passing game if Cooper can’t suit up.

Michael Gallup Week 7 Projections: 15 targets, 10 receptions, 163 receiving yards, 2 receiving TD’s

Kerryon Johnson carrying the ball

Week 7 Sit ’em

Kerryon Johnson – Lions RB

Johnson and the Lions offense are coming off a tough loss to the Packers on MNF due to not one but two phantom hands to the face calls which cost them the game. Johnson was largely disappointing, touching the ball just 13 times on the ground for a paltry 34 yards rushing.

He was able to salvage his night with a TD, but it wasn’t a performance that many of his owners were looking for. In Week 7, the sledding gets tougher on the ground as the Lions face a Vikings defense that didn’t allow a rushing TD from an Eagles running back. With a short week to prepare, I predict another less than stellar performance from the second year starter.

Kerryon Johnson Week 7 Projections: 14 rushing attempts, 42 rushing yards, 0 rushing TD’s, 2 receptions, 17 receiving yards, 0 receiving TD’s
