Fantasy Football Start ’em Sit ’em Week 4 (2019)

This week I want to shed some light on some of the crazy highlights that happened in Week 3 instead of the usual strategy session. First off, I can’t say how happy I am for New York sports fans everywhere who were treated with an incredible road comeback win by Danny Dimes in his first career start P.E. (Post Eli).

Pulling off an epic comeback on the road against the Bucs, Daniel Jones had 4 TD’s with 2 rushing, which showed why he deserved to be drafted with the 6th overall pick, much to the chagrin of Giants fans who attended the draft. Danny Dimes will make his Broadway debut in Week 4 against a Washington defense that got shredded by Mitch Trubisk (which won’t be a phrase said much often this year).

He will have to do so without the consensus number one fantasy pick this year Saquon Barkley, who is scheduled to miss 4-8 weeks with a high ankle sprain. I am 2-1 in my league and I made a trade recently to acquire Saquon for my WR2 who also got injured, T.Y. Hilton. If you have a chance to get the number one draft pick in fantasy without giving up too much, you should take it-scared money don’t make money!

Before I forget, I just want to say that I was wrong about those who reached to pick Patrick Mahomes in the late first or second round. He is revolutionizing the quarterback position in front of our very eyes and provides enough fantasy points compared to his peers to justify his relatively high average draft position for a QB. Mahomes is my early favorite to win back to back MVP awards.

Lastly, I am now a Gardner Minshew II believer after his performance against a stout Titans defense in the Jacksonville rain. He showed poise and the ability to make throws under pressure that are not typical of a rookie signal caller on TNF. After this Week 4 matchup against the Broncos, I predict he will go on to be a legit streaming option the rest of the way. Savage Gardner aka the Minshew-rian Candidate will be good enough to win some of you a league championship this season, so add him while you can!

Week 4 Start ’em

Terry McLaurin – Washington WR

Scary Terry was the only player putting fear into the hearts of Bears defensive backs on MNF, becoming the first player in NFL history to catch at least 5 passes and score a TD in his first three games. I predict that streak will continue against an anemic Giants defense in Week 4 who just got lit up by Mike Evans.

The Giants will have their hands full trying to cover McLaurin who is a good bet to go over 100 yards for the second time this season. Unless you have significantly better options, don’t be afraid to start Scary Terry for this plus matchup.

Terry McLaurin Week 4 Projections: 8 receptions, 115 receiving yards, 2 receiving TD’s

Week 4 Sit ’em

Todd Gurley – Rams RB

If you were someone who drafted Gurley in the late first to early second round, you are likely very disappointed in his performance so far. I too drafted Gurley in two leagues, and I can say that we only have ourselves to blame. We knew we were getting damaged goods who the Rams would try to load manage during the season which has taken shape in the form of Malcolm Brown.

This Week 4 matchup against a Bucs defense that is coming off a home loss to Danny Dimes seems enticing, but I don’t trust Sean McVay enough to use Gurley enough in the passing game to make him a must start option this week. Also, the Bucs defense is giving up the least fantasy points to running backs this season. If you have some up and coming running back options that you’ve been wanting to see what they can do, this is a good spot to fire them up.

Todd Gurley Week 4 Projections: 15 rushing attempts, 57 rushing yards, 1 reception, 0 TD’s
