Start ’em Sit ’em Week 1

Ahhh the season is finally here! As crazy as this offseason has been so far, I have never been more excited for a regular season opener to start. With that being said, I just wanted to say thank you to all of our fans and supporters who have given us the energy to keep putting out videos and articles every week. Without you guys, there is no Couch!

Okay, also I must address this off the bat, everyone keep in mind that as of this writing, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Miami Dolphins game will not be played this Sunday in Miami due to Hurricane Irma. The game will either be played at a neutral location or moved to Week 11 when both teams have their scheduled bye week. I have left all Dolphin and Buccaneer players off this list.

Also, Ezekiel Elliott’s 6-game suspension is being upheld (for now), however he is slated to play in the Week 1 opener against the New York Giants. And now for my list…keep in mind that I left off some obvious starts so if you are wondering whether or not to start Melvin Gordon or Dez Bryant this week, please do not look for those type of picks in this column!

Week 1 Start ’em

Christian McCaffrey – Car RB

Run CMC is my early bet for Offensive ROY due to his versatility as a running back with elite pass-catching ability and return skills. These weapons will be on full display against a 49ers defense that has struggled to contain elusive running backs with breakaway speed.

In PPR formats, McCaffrey is a stud and will pay off big time for his owners in Week 1. Start him with confidence and watch as this dynamic playmaker puts on a show once again in the Bay Area!

Week 1 Sit ’em

Leonard Fournette – Jax RB

The 4th overall pick in the 2017 Draft, Fournette has the size, speed and strength to be a force in his rookie campaign for the Jaguars. His breakout will have to wait however, as he faces one of the best defenses in the league against the rush in the Houston Texans.

Keep in mind that he is coming off foot and ankle injuries that have hampered him during the preseason, as well as the likelihood that Chris Ivory and T.J. Yeldon will get touches, and you have the recipe for an underwhelming Week 1 performance.
