Warning: this is the boldest start ’em sit ’em Week 14 list on the Internet and is intended to be used strictly as a guide. You are responsible for making the final decisions on your fantasy football rosters. Now that you’ve been warned, let’s have some fun. Here are the players that you should start and the players you should sit for Week 14.

Week 14 Start ’em

Eli Manning, NYG QB

With your fantasy hopes on the line, can you trust Eli Manning to bring you the chip? Well for this week you can.

Manning has quietly been having a productive year, currently ranked as the 11th best fantasy quarterback in standard scoring and will improve those numbers with this week’s matchup against a porous Miami Dolphins secondary. The men in teal have given up the fifth-most passing touchdowns (24) and are allowing 255 passing yards a game this season. The Dolphins give up the 11th most fantasy points to opposing arms at 17 points a game.

Another reason to throw Manning into your starting lineup this week is how consistent he has been this year in finding the end zone. In all but four games Manning has thrown multiple touchdowns. Manning also has thrown multiple interceptions in only four games and has six games without an interception.

With such a great matchup, expect Eli to be a Top 10 QB for the week with the Top 5 potential. The Ole Miss product will finish the game with 330 passing yards and three touchdowns. Definitely worthy of being your starting quarterback… for this week anyways.

Week 14 Sit ’em

Philip Rivers, SD QB

Don’t you do it. Don’t you dare throw Philip Rivers in your starting lineup and think he’ll help you get a win Week 14. Rivers has been in a funk lately and it’s gotten worse in the last few weeks.

Since his Bye in Week 10, Rivers has two games in which he has not thrown a touchdown, he had zero of those games in his first nine games of this season. Also, all his pass catchers have been dropping like flies. He lost star wide receiver Keenan Allen for the season back in Week 8, and this week he will be without wide receivers Stevie Johnson (groin) and Dontrelle Inman (neck). So that’s three of the top four wide outs he’ll be missing in this week contest.

His opponent, Kansas City, has made opposing quarterbacks wish they missed the team flight. Five of the last seven quarterbacks the Chiefs faced scored less than double-digit fantasy points. The Chiefs haven’t allowed a 300-yard passer since Week 4, and did I mention the game will be played in Arrowhead stadium, one of the loudest and toughest places for opposing quarterbacks to play in.

Rivers will be no more than a Top 20 QB for the week and should have a cozy spot on your bench. If you have better options like Ryan Fitzpatrick or Tyrod Taylor, who surprisingly is still available on waivers, play them because if you don’t, you can kiss your fantasy playoffs good bye.
