Week 2 of the NFL was filled with upsets as teams like Cleveland, Washington, Minnesota, Tampa Bay, Jacksonville, Oakland and the New York Jets all had surprising wins as underdogs in the eyes’ of Las Vegas. Shocking games like these always make for bad fantasy decisions but great fantasy football woes. Some of us fantasy owners are even more surprised and upset about the way our supposed studs are performing.

Fantasy Football Disappointments for Week 2

We have to start with Denver running back, C.J. Anderson, and his underwhelming production for the first two weeks of the season: 56 yards rushing on 24 carries combined with no touchdowns. He is nursing a bad toe and could very well lose his starting job to Ronnie Hillman at some point. It doesn’t help that at times, the Broncos’ offensive has been easy to break through like tape at the finish line.

The even bigger issue could be that new head coach, Gary Kubiak, and quarterback Peyton Manning don’t see eye-to-eye on an offensive approach. Kubiak wants to create a stronger running game by lining up Manning under center instead of out of the shotgun where he has spent most of his illustrious career. With a struggling offensive line that has given up seven sacks through two games already, Kubiak could be taking the horsepower out of the Broncos’ offense. The head coach may very well let Peyton go back to doing what he does best and allow the Hall-of-Fame quarterback to call the shots in his favored shotgun formation.

Cincinnati’s Jeremy Hill did lose his job in essence on Sunday after fumbling twice and being benched for Giovanni Bernard who rushed for over 120 yards. Hill’s value comes with getting goal-line carries and that may not happen right away next week in Baltimore.

Then there is Eagles running back DeMarco Murray who ran the rock 13 times for just two yards in the loss to the Cowboys. He did add five catches for 53 yards, so at least the PPR guys and gals were a little happy. That gives Murray a grand total of 11 yards on 21 carries this year, although his two trips to the endzone last week will make some people hopeful, the Eagles (0-2) are a mess and we may have a Mark Sanchez sighting soon enough. If that happens, things could get even worse for the Eagles.

The Colts offense was miserable as they could never get going in their Monday night loss to the Jets with turnovers and penalties being their downfall. Andrew Luck threw three picks, one of which was hauled in by Darrelle Revis, who also recovered a pair of fumbles. Frank Gore had a non-contact fumble where he literally dropped the ball on the goal-line and made Indy fans miss Trent Richardson for a millisecond.

Indianapolis is now 0-2 and they have looked terrible on offense, and drafting Aaron Rodgers ahead of Luck now looks like a no-brainer in hindsight. Luck could easily turn it around with better protection from the guys up front and it would really help if Andre Johnson stops being a bust. You know it is a bad sign when their future Hall-of-Fame kicker, Adam Vinatieri, has minus one point in standard scoring leagues having missed his only two field goal attempts so far this season.

Make sure to do your best to avoid having players on next week’s #FantasyWoes list, but that’s easier said than done. The best way to bounce back from these tough breaks is to make sure to sign up for the VIP Waiver Wire List to have the weekly waiver pickups delivered straight to your inbox every week! Good luck to you all, especially to owners who drafted both Tony Romo… and Dez Bryant… in multiple leagues.
