Don’t get too comfortable with your lead in fantasy baseball, stay on top of your game with the top fantasy baseball waivers of June. And if you’re not doing so well in your league, these waivers pickups may help you climb up the ranks and put you in position to make the playoffs this season – good luck!

Matt Joyce, TB OF

The Tampa Bay native blasted his 10th home run of the season on Friday, and managed to hit a productive .301 during the long month of May. Joyce seems to feel comfortable batting out of the lead-off spot, but don’t expect him to leave the bench much if the Rays are facing an opposing left-handed pitcher.

Fantasy owners are beginning to catch onto his ability to hit the ball out of the ball park (70 home runs in his 5 year career), and his 25 RBIs this season certainly isn’t something to complain about. If extra pop is what you and your team are seeking, then now would be the ideal time to make your move.

Jason Castro, Hou C

Astros catcher Jason Castro was named AL player of the week on Tuesday, becoming the first Houston player to be honored with this award since Hunter Pence back in September of 2010. The 25-year-old hit .579 (11 for 19) for the week with 3 home runs and 5 RBIs in six games. He is gradually putting together quite a respectable first half of the season, clubbing 7 home runs to go along with his .283 average for the slumping Stros.

On the downside, Castro has driven in just 17 runs thus far, and with Houston’s poor offense, don’t expect him up to bat with runners in scoring position as often as your typical fantasy owner would hope for. Productivity at the catcher position seems to be rather limited in 2013, especially on the waiver wire, so keep an eye on Castro especially if your current backstop is injury prone.

Francisco Rodriguez, Mil RP

With closer Jim Henderson being placed on the 15-day-DL, the Brewers decided to bypass the “shaky” John Axford and deploy their experienced Venezuelan strikeout artist “K-Rod” as the team’s temporary new closer. Rodriguez has yet to give up a run in 2013, and his microscopic .38 WHIP along with his recent save opportunities should help his fantasy owners as long as Henderson remains sidelined.

The three time league leader in saves has 295 of them in his impressive big league career, including the all time record for saves in a single season with 62 back in 2008. The only thing that tends to hold Rodriguez back is his anger issues, but that’s another problem for another day.

Neil Walker, Pit 2B

Fantasy Baseball Waiver Pickups - Neil WalkerAfter missing a few weeks due to being cleated and receiving stitches on his right hand, switch hitting Neil Walker has been arguably one of the Pirates’ hottest hitters after his highly anticipated return in late May. He has posted a .302 average during last two weeks, which includes 3 home runs, 7 XBH, 8 runs and a .393 OBP. Expect Walker to get plenty of RBI opportunities batting fifth behind studs like Andrew McCutchen and Starling Marte, who have both been swinging hot bats lately as well.

Tyler Lyons, StL SP

The 25-year-old southpaw has been absolutely brilliant in his first two starts of the season, going 2-0 with a 1.29 ERA and 9 Ks in 14 innings. Keep in mind that Lyons faced two offenses that were dreadful in the Padres and the Royals, but starting your big league career having successful back to back outings will have a young pitchers confidence soaring through the roof. The Cardinals are a team that can produce runs, and with the proper run support, a confident pitcher is sure to rack up a few W’s.
