Don’t let your team go stale by not picking up any new fantasy baseball waivers. Nearly every fantasy baseball league still has gems on the waiver wire. Here are the top waiver pickups to consider adding to your roster.

Ubaldo Jimenez, SP, Cleveland Indians

The lengthy right-hander possesses a 3-2 record with a 5.31 ERA on the season, but has pitched much better as of late due to a few minor adjustments in his mechanics. The 29-year-old has struck out at-least seven batters in each of his last four games, but I wouldn’t expect him to get back to dominating hitters like he once did as a member of the Colorado Rockies. In his 8 year career, Jimenez is 72-68 with a 4.07 ERA and flashy 8.1 K/9. He hasn’t had much success at home this year, although he does appear to be headed in the right direction within his past few starts.

Didi Gregorius, SS, Arizona Diamondbacks

This promising young shortstop seems to be thriving in the Major Leagues, batting .333 with an impressive .398 OBP in 2013. Having such selective plate discipline at age 23 is a great sign, but his owners shouldn’t be too happy about that disappointing zero in the stolen bases category. Gregorius has registered only 79 official at-bats so far, but the Diamondbacks have made it clear that the Dutchman will be their starting shortstop going forward. Gregorius is owned in only 33% of ESPN leagues and could be beneficial to your squad if your current shortstop isn’t cutting it at the plate.

2013 Top Fantasy Baseball Waivers - Dee Gordon

Dee Gordon, SS, Los Angeles Dodgers

Dee Gordon’s poor judgment on the bases lately is starting to cause controversy in LA, and his .191 batting average in 46 at-bats isn’t exactly helping him win any popularity contests amongst Dodger fans either. Despite all of the media and hype that comes along with playing in a big city, Gordon should be able to help his fantasy owners in the speed department as long as they remain patient with his bat. Replacing an injured Hanley Ramirez will be a tough task, but on the upside, Gordon did perform well in the minor leagues before his recent return to the ball club. Weighing in at a buck sixty soaking wet, the speedster has already stolen 5 bases on the short season, and has 61 in his brief career. This indicates that the steals will come as long as he can raise that batting average.

Scott Kazmir, SP, Cleveland Indians

Scott Kazmir is now 2-2 as a member of the tribe, and will look to lower his 5.33 ERA on Monday against the struggling Phillies. The veteran left-hander owns a 68-63 career record in his years spent in both Tampa Bay and Anaheim, so the good news is that he’s obviously familiar with the American League. After a career filled with many ups and downs, the 29-year-old spent all of last year pitching in an independent league, so expect him to make a full-hearted attempt at resurrecting his Major League career. The two time All-Star can be “hit or miss”, so closely analyzing his match ups would be wise before recklessly deploying him in your fantasy team’s rotation.

Chris Tillman, SP, Baltimore Orioles

Orioles starting pitcher Chris Tillman has been raking up K’s with his heater, as opposing batters are just 3 for 26 (.115) against his fastball in two-strike counts. At 3-2 on the season, his 3.52 ERA and 41 Ks make him fantasy relevant as long as he continues to hit his spots with the fastball. Tillman is an important piece to Baltimore’s rotation, and with good run support, I can see this kid easily flirting with double digit wins this year.

Jose Tabata, OF, Pittsburgh Pirates

24-year-old Venezuelan outfielder Jose Tabata is part of the Pirates multi-player rotation in right field, making him a risky pickup for those who plan on starting him in daily leagues. He does handle a bat relatively well, hitting a modest .272 with 13 bombs in his 3 year career, but I wouldn’t recommend going after a player who shares time at their position unless you have an official emergency in your outfield. Tabata has hit .280 in just 75 at bats this season, so as long as he gets some playing time, his numbers should be above average.
