2012 Fantasy Football Start Em Week 5

2012 Fantasy Football Start Philip Rivers Week 5Philip Rivers, QB, Chargers – He’s going to have a great game Sunday night. So far this season Rivers has been all over the place. He’s had his good games and his not so good games but it comes with the territory when you’re still trying to find your identity on offense, and this week that identity will be Rivers airing it out. His opponent this week is the New Orleans Saints who are looking like the team from the early 2000s when they were known as the Aints. The Saints are giving up 276 yards/gm to opposing quarterbacks and have proven so far this year that they can not stop anyone. Another factor helping out Rivers is that the running game for the Chargers is starting to look respectable, so no more dropping seven or eight guys in to coverage, they have to respect what Ryan Mathews and Jackie Battle are doing in the running game. Look for Rivers to have his first 300-yard game of the season and throw three touchdowns; Philip Rivers is a must-start for Week 5.

2012 Fantasy Football Sit Em Week 5

2012 Fantasy Football - Sit LeSean McCoy
LeSean McCoy, RB, Eagles – It’s going to be a dark and gloomy day for the guy they call Shady McCoy. Through the first month of the season he has been solid, rushing for no less then 70 yards, eclipsing the century mark twice and recording 14 receptions. So, why bench this first round draft pick? Because his Week 5 opponent, the Pittsburgh Steelers will finally be at full strength, having James Harrison and Troy Polamalu in the starting lineup. Without their top two defensive players the Steelers have not been able to stop the run, ranking in the middle of the league in run defense, giving up 101 yards/gm. If I were a betting man, I’d bet my last dollar that the Steelers will improve on that ranking with Harrison and Polamalu back. It will be hard for McCoy to find holes to run through or to make a cutback with the Steelers having their defensive leaders back, eager to make a statement. I’m not expecting a big game from Shady, he’ll be lucky to break 60 rushing yards this week. You can cross your fingers by starting him in a PPR league, or be smart, and bench LeSean McCoy for Week 5 of fantasy football.
