2012 Fantasy Football Week 3 Start ’em

Wes Welker, WR, NE – No, I’m not sick, I haven’t fallen on my mind or taken any hallucinogenic drugs, this is just the final shot Welker has to prove all the doubters wrong. I know the matchup against the Baltimore Ravens is a tough one but I got a feeling the Patriots’ game plan will involve a whole lot of Welker. Last week against the Arizona Cardinals, he finally put together a decent game (albeit at the expense of Aaron Hernandez going down with an ankle injury); 5 receptions for 95 yards. He became more involved as the game went along and saw 11 targets by the end of the game.

Even though the Patriots recently signed Kellen Winslow and Deion Branch, it was merely for depth, so don’t expect them to be heavily involved in the offensive attack. You have to believe that the Patriots will return to what worked in the past, which was a large dose of Welker. I’m going out on a limb here but I think Wes will finish the day with double digit receptions and record his first touchdown and 100-yard game of the season.

2012 Fantasy Football Week 3 Sit ’em

2012 Fantasy Football Week 3 - Sit Reggie BushReggie Bush, RB, MIA – Am I nuts this weekend? First I tell you to start Wes and now I’m telling you to sit Reggie. He is coming off a great day in which he rushed for 172 yards and scored two touchdowns but that was against a weak and pathetic Raiders defense. I know that the New York Jets who are his opponents this week haven’t been that much better this year but they should be getting back Darrelle Revis this week which will allow the Jets to play one-on-one on the outside with the Dolphins’ receivers and crowd the line of scrimmage.

Jets’ Head Coach Rex Ryan will game plan in stopping Bush and allowing Miami quarterback Ryan Tannehill to try and beat the best tandem cornerbacks (Antonio Cromartie and Revis) in the league. In his only game against the Jets last year, Bush gained only 71 yards – expect a repeat performance this year. You’ve been warned! Bench Reggie Bush!
