Fantasy Football 2011 – IDP – Week 10 Pickups

Besides a few unforeseen injuries, I have been doing very well with my IDP waiver pickups so far. Thanks for all the positive feedback, glad so many of my readers are dominating your IDP leagues. When it feels like all the defensive players have been snagged off the waiver wire, all of a sudden a new NFL player comes out of nowhere, deserving a spot on your roster. Let’s start off with this IDP stud who is a top waiver pickup for week 10, if you are in need of a linebacker…

Week 10 IDP Waiver Pickups - Michael BoleyMichael Boley, LB, New York Giants – Someone had to step up and lead the Giants’ linebacker corps and it’s been Boley so far with 42 solo tackles and 14 assists thru eight games. He’s coming off his best game of the season last week against New England when he had 10 total tackles (seven solo), a sack and a forced fumble. Next Sunday’s contest has the Giants visiting San Francisco, a conservative offensive attack, which could mean lots of run plays and short, underneath routes or check downs. That could spell big production from the former Atlanta Falcon.

Week 10 IDP Waiver Pickups - Jamar Chaney - Senior in collegeJamar Chaney, LB, Philadelphia – In only his second season out of Mississippi State, Chaney has played relatively consistent statistically as the team’s starting middle linebacker since Week 3. The former seventh round draft choice is now calling the plays on a defense filled with lots of talent and not enough chemistry. I got a hunch he’s the young guy who comes in there and becomes the ‘glue’ that keeps everything together and running smoothly. He is proven to be a quick and athletic linebacker who should continue to develop, a n appealing target for IDP owners and he’s hardly owned in most leagues. Playing the Cardinals and Giants the next couple games, respectively, should present a chance to prove that true in the box score if nothing else.

A.J. Jefferson, CB, Arizona Cardinals – Here’s another second year player who has assumed a starting job and is worthy of adding based on consistent play so far this season. Jefferson is only 23-years-old and was an undrafted free agent out of Fresno State and now he’s starting opposite from rookie Patrick Peterson. Jefferson hasn’t made any big plays yet this season, i.e. turnovers, but has been a good tackler with lots of solos (39) and but only five assists. He’s worth a waiver if you’re looking for tackles in a league that requires a CB slot and playing Philadelphia in Week 10 looks like a prime situation to score fantasy points.

Marcell Dareus, DT, Buffalo Bills – Here is a super sleeper waiver pickup if your league requires you to use the DT or NT position and he’s not at all popular with IDP owners, yet. Dareus was the third overall pick in the most recent draft and started his rookie season playing defensive end, only to move to the middle to replace Kyle Williams who is now on injured reserve. Dareus recorded 2.5 sacks in his first game at nose tackle playing against Washington in Week 8 so maybe things happened for a reason. The job is his for the duration and it looks like it has motivated the rookie to play above early expectations.
